Seek My kingdom first and everything you need will be given to you.
Luke 12:31 (WEB)
But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.
Today's Bible verse is an excerpt from a larger passage found in Luke 12:22-34, where Jesus discusses some significant concerns we often worry about: food, clothing, and shelter. He encourages us not to stress over these matters, as we have a loving Father who has promised to provide for us. Jesus uses illustrations of the birds of the air and the lilies of the field to convey His message that God cares for all His creation.
The premise of today's promise is that your Father in heaven knows what you need and will faithfully provide it because that is what good fathers do for their children. Since we do not have to bear the burden of taking care of ourselves, we can be free to focus on our Heavenly Father's kingdom and attend to His business.
Personally, I have found this passage of Scripture to be quite challenging at times. Jesus says that we should not worry about our lives. I don't know about you, but I find that hard to grasp. Yet, Jesus assures us that it's possible to live such a carefree life that we can truly exist without worry.
My prayer today for all of us is to take God at His Word. I believe that if we can truly do this, the outcome will be a life free from worry and anxiety, to the extent that we trust Him with our lives. When we seek Him with all our heart, He takes care of all the other details in our lives!

Responsive Prayer:
Father, thank you for promising to take care of all the details of my life so that I do not have to worry about them. Help me focus on the things of your kingdom rather than the many matters of this earth that I simply cannot control by worrying. I know you are a good Father who even looks after the birds and the flowers, so I trust that you will look after me.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
